Mediation is a process in which a third party mediator is involved in the resolution of your family law case. In most counties in Texas, some form of alternative dispute resolution is required in each and every family law case.   • After September 1, 2005, anytime a standing agreement regarding children (such as custody or support orders) is modified, the case must go into alternative dispute resolution (ADR). The two main forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) are mediation and arbitration. Though mediation does not always result in a settlement or resolution of the case, it can be an effective and efficient way to address your family law situation.
